How to Install Split AC the Right Way
As a homeowner, installing a split AC can be tricky. However, even if you are unable to get it all done, you can do some of the work and save a few bucks. There are a few things that you need to know about installing this type of system, such as an LG mini split, so that you can make the best decision to get it installed quickly and correctly.
What Does Installation Involve?
This is where having extensive knowledge when it comes to HVAC comes in handy because there is actually quite a bit that you need to know well to get the job done right, as well as keep the installation safe. There are often laws on the local, federal and state level that regulate how gas, refrigerants and electrical connected are setup so you will need to look into this if you are going to do any of this work on your own. If you hire someone, you will need to check out the company well to ensure that they are properly following these laws. Most distributors do not encourage everyday people to install these types of systems alone unless they are certified HVAC technicians.
Which Kind of Work Can I Do?
You can get the setup work done. For example, you can hang the indoor unit carefully, drill all necessary holes into the wall, put the outdoor unit outside on a flat surface, such as a concrete pad and run the connections and copper lines outside. Also, if there is no flat surface outside, you can put one in. You know how big the outdoor unit is, so take this and lay a concrete pad to accommodate it.
You also need to keep in mind that in addition to specialized skills and knowledge, you will also need specialized tools to complete the job. If you do not have these, you will not be able to get it done.
When these type of system is not properly installed you can and will have issues. One of these is the refrigerant slowly leaking out. This occurs because the coppers lines have not been properly checked and there is a small hole. You need to know what you are looking for and how to properly test the various parts of the system in order to ensure everything was properly installed and to ensure that you will not have problems a few months down the road.
